Bird's the Word!

I recently got a new job! Yeah scousers can  get jobs! I have had a fortunate life really andespecially when it comes to my career. I've worked at bird observatories ringing cool birds like Dusky Warbler and Great Grey Shrikes, I've mapped nesting Red Kites, counted auk colonies, banded Red-billed Chough babies and Storm-petrels, counted tens of thousands of sea ducks, lead field trips, taught classes, maintained bird habitat.... the list goes on. Working with birds has been very rewarding for me. I met my wife while birding and my daughter's middle name is Lark! There are 15 bird feeders in our front yard and I get text messages to the sound of singing birds. I've watched birds from a nuclear submarine, a 90,000 all-seater football stadium, a jumbo jet and a Lynx helicopter. Obsessed? You bet your sweet bollocks I am!
My new job is working for the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission and I'll be helping to promote and maintain The Great Florida Birding Trail. It's a funny old world isn't it? You see, it's because of the trail that I met Julie, got married and now live in Florida. We met at a birding trail site, we should have gotten married at one. My idea of having a Peregrine swoop down holding the rings was quashed as well! Just writing on my blog dear, go back to watching Housewives of Atlanta!
Anyway I've been in the job 4 days and every day I post a little tit bit or something on the trail Facebook page. While on there I noticed you can check how many people like your Facebook page and what country they are in. To my utter dismay I noticed that only 2 Brits have liked our Facebook page. Algeria has 3! ALGERIA! They are probably the only 3 birders in Algeria. Given the number of British birders that visit Florida we should have more British likes! So come on follow the link below and click like. ALGERIA!
